How to Draw a Cute Frog

Cute animalsEasy · 9 steps
Step-by-step 9-panel guide showing how to draw a cute sitting frog with big eyes.

Hop into creativity with this easy guide on how to draw a cute, smiling frog! Frogs are classic cartoon favorites, and their round shapes make them wonderful practice for beginning artists of all ages. Grab your pencil and follow along with nine clear steps. You will start with basic circles and curves, then build up the eyes, legs, and feet until you have an adorable frog ready to leap off your page.

What you'll need

  • Drawing paper

  • Pencil

  • Eraser

  • Black fine-tip marker or pen

  • Crayons or colored pencils

Pro tips

  • Draw your first circles lightly with a pencil so erasing the overlapping guidelines is quick and neat.

  • Keep the body wide and round to give your frog an extra chubby and cute kawaii look.

  • Add rosy pink cheeks right under the eyes with colored pencil to make your frog look even friendlier.

Follow the steps

Each step matches one panel in the sheet above — draw along at your own pace.

  1. 1

    Draw the Body

Draw a large, smooth oval in the center of your page to create the main head and body shape.

  2. 2

    Add Eye Outlines

Sketch two smaller circles resting on the top curve of the body for the frog's raised eye bumps.

  3. 3

    Detail the Eyes

Erase the bottom overlapping curves inside the eye bumps, then draw a smaller circle inside each one.

  4. 4

    Smile and Hind Legs

Add a sweet curved smile between the eyes, then sketch two circles overlapping the lower sides for back legs.

  5. 5

    Blend Back Legs

Erase the inner lines of the side circles so the curved hind legs merge cleanly into the frog's body.

  6. 6

    Draw Back Feet

Add three rounded webbed toes sticking outward from the bottom of each hind leg.

  7. 7

    Add Front Legs

Draw two small front legs with three little toes resting along the bottom edge of the belly.

  8. 8

    Erase Guide Lines

Erase the body outline that runs behind the front legs so they look attached to the body.

  9. 9

    Shade the Pupils

Color the inner pupils black, leaving a tiny white dot in each eye for a shiny, cheerful highlight.
