This underwater mail delivery scene was inspired by the intelligence and playfulness of dolphins combined with human fascination with sending messages across vast distances. The design reimagines how ocean creatures might create their own postal system, bringing together the magic of undersea life with human concepts of communication and connection.
Artist notes
When creating this underwater postal scene, I wanted to capture the joy of dolphins at play while giving them purposeful roles in an imaginary undersea society. The clam post office represents how nature provides everything needed for shelter and structure. I made sure the mail bottles were transparent to encourage young colorists to imagine what messages might be inside – perhaps invitations to a coral reef party or maps to sunken treasure!
